Model Checks

Model Checks help you evaluate your model's behavior and identify potential issues. The checks provide diagnostic information with messages and warnings (note: these are not errors, but indicators of areas that may need attention).

Model Check Overview

Click the 'Refresh Check Report' button to update the check results after running the model.

Hydrology

The Hydrology tab displays water balance information with an interactive diagram showing all water cycle components.

Water Balance Check

Water Balance Ratios

The panel displays key ratios including: - ET/Precipitation - Deep Recharge/Precipitation - Streamflow/Precipitation - Baseflow/Total Flow - Surface Runoff/Total Flow - Percolation/Precipitation

Water Balance Components

The diagram shows values for: - Precipitation, ET, PET - Surface Runoff, Lateral Flow, Return Flow - Percolation, Deep Aquifer Recharge - Revap, Irrigation - Average CN

Messages and Warnings

The check provides warnings such as: - 'Surface Runoff' to 'Total Flow' ratio may be too high - Groundwater ratio may be low - Lateral flow is greater than groundwater flow - Water yield may be excessive - Surface runoff may be excessive

Filtering by Land Use

Toggle 'Check by Landuse' to analyze water balance for specific land use types.

Water Balance by Land Use

Select from the Landuse dropdown to filter results by: - Overall - Sparsely Vegetated - Grassland - Shrubland - Agriculture - Mixed Grassland/Shrubland - Wetland - Forest - Urban

Nutrients

The Nutrients tab displays nitrogen and phosphorus cycling information.

Nutrients Check

Nutrients Selection

Use the toggle switch to view either Nitrogen or Phosphorus checks.

Landscape Nitrogen Losses

  • Total N Loss
  • Organic N
  • Nitrate Surface Runoff
  • Nitrate Lateral Flow
  • Solubility Ratio in Runoff

Nutrient Cycle Diagram

The diagram shows nutrient pathways including: - Plant Residue (Fresh/Active pools) - Organic Fertiliser - Mineralisation and Residue Mineralisation - NO₃ and NH₄ pools - Nitrification, Denitrification, Volatilisation - Inorganic Fertiliser - Plant Uptake

Messages and Warnings

Nutrient-related warnings include: - Denitrification is zero, consider decreasing SDNCO - Total nitrogen losses are greater than 40% of applied N - Organic/Particulate nitrogen losses in surface runoff may be high - Solubility ratio for nitrogen in runoff is low - Nitrate leaching is greater than 50 kg/ha

Sediments

The Sediments tab provides information on sediment generation and transport throughout the watershed.

Plants

The Plants tab displays plant growth and management information.

Plants Check

Stress Days

Monitor plant stress indicators: - Temperature Stress Days - Water Stress Days - Nitrogen Stress Days - Phosphorus Stress Days - Soil Air Stress Days

Management Events

View a timeline of management operations including: - Planting dates and crop types - Harvest and Kill operations

Yield and Biomass

  • Average Yield
  • Average Biomass
  • Total Fertiliser (Nitrogen and Phosphorus)
  • Plant Uptake (Nitrogen and Phosphorus)
  • Removed in Yield (Nitrogen and Phosphorus)

Messages and Warnings

Plant-related warnings such as: - Unusually low phosphorus stress - Unusually low nitrogen stress
